To correct protruding ears commonly called “Dumbo” ears.
The defect of protruding ears may be mono-lateral or bi-lateral and is manifested as a result of a malformation of the ear cartilage, which, by not bending and forming a kind of shell, stays straight and flat.
According to necessity it may be advisable to operate both ears in one surgical procedure.
The surgery may be performed under local anesthesia with sedation.
The surgery involves removing a small ellipsis of the skin on the posterior side of the auricle and the subsequent remodelling and re-positioning of the ear cartilage with some stitches.
Turban like dressing most be worn for one week.
A protective elastic headband is to be worn only at night for one month.
