Breast Reduction

Surgical procedure to reduce the size of breats which is often uncomfortable.

Breast reduction techniqueLarge breasts often cause pain of:

  • shoulders,
  • neck and
  • cause upper spinal problems.

Breast reduction is usually performed through incisions on your breasts with surgical removal of the excess fat, glandular tissue and skin.

The technique used to reduce the size of your breasts will be determined by your individual condition, breasts composition, amount of reduction desired, and your personal preference.

Breast ReductionIncision options are:

  • A circular pattern around the areola
  • A keyhole or racquet shaped pattern with an incision around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease
  • An inverted T or anchor-shaped incision pattern

After the incision is made, the nipple-which remains tethered to its original blood and nerve supply-is repositioned.

The areola is reduced by excising skin at the perimeter, if necessary.

Underlying breast tissue is reduced, lifted and shaped.

The results are immediately visible.

Post-surgical swelling will resolved and incision lines will fade.

This surgical procedure is done under general anesthesia with one overnight in hospital.

A support bra must be worn night and day for 4 to 6 weeks.
